Accessibility & Inclusion
Designed for Every Spartan

Accessibility and inclusion are not features at Every Spartan™ — they are the foundation. From its inception, the brand was created to address a long-standing gap in collegiate apparel: the separation of adaptive clothing from traditional fanwear. Every Spartan™ exists to eliminate that divide.

This apparel line is built on a simple but powerful belief: Spartan pride should never be limited by ability. Every fan, student, alumni, faculty member, and supporter deserves access to apparel that reflects their identity, values, and connection to Michigan State University — without compromise.

Every Spartan™ integrates adaptive and traditional apparel into a single, unified collection. There are no separate sections, labels, or visual distinctions. The same designs, the same moments, and the same stories are available to everyone.

Why Unified Design Matters

Historically, adaptive apparel has been treated as an afterthought — often offered as a limited option, visually different, or segregated from mainstream collections. While these offerings may address functional needs, they unintentionally reinforce exclusion.

Every Spartan™ takes a different approach.

By offering adaptive and traditional garments side by side, the brand ensures that individuals with disabilities shop in the same space, choose from the same designs, and participate in the same moments as their peers. This unified approach reflects the reality of the Spartan community itself — diverse, interconnected, and shared.

Inclusion is not about creating something "separate but equal." It is about creating something truly shared.

Adaptive apparel at Every Spartan™ is intentionally designed to look and feel identical to traditional garments. The goal is not to highlight adaptive elements, but to integrate them discreetly and thoughtfully.

While specific features vary by garment type, adaptive considerations may include:

  • Alternative closures designed for ease of use
  • Thoughtful garment construction for seated wear
  • Enhanced mobility and comfort considerations
  • Simplified dressing without sacrificing style

These features are incorporated in a way that preserves the visual integrity of each design. When someone wears Every Spartan™, the focus remains on the story, the moment, and the pride — not on the mechanics.

Visual Equality Across All Designs

One of the guiding principles of Every Spartan™ is visual equality.

This means:

  • No special markings or labels distinguishing adaptive garments
  • No altered graphics or simplified designs
  • No reduction in quality, fabric, or aesthetic

Every piece is designed to meet the same visual and material standards, regardless of fit or function. Fans should never feel that they are receiving a lesser version of the apparel because of their needs.

This philosophy reinforces dignity, confidence, and belonging — values that align deeply with Michigan State University’s commitment to equity and inclusion.

Inclusion as a Brand Responsibility

Every Spartan™ recognizes that inclusion is not a trend or a marketing strategy. It is a responsibility.

The brand operates with the understanding that apparel plays a role in identity and visibility. What people wear communicates who they are, what they value, and where they belong. When access to that expression is limited, so is participation.

By prioritizing inclusive design from the outset, Every Spartan™ seeks to expand access — not just to clothing, but to community.

Aligning With Michigan State University Values

Michigan State University has long demonstrated leadership in education, access, and inclusion. Every Spartan™ was intentionally built to reflect and reinforce these institutional values.

The brand’s unified approach supports:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives
  • A culture of belonging and representation
  • Innovation that serves real community needs
  • Social responsibility through thoughtful design

Every Spartan™ does not speak for the university, but it does aim to honor the principles that define the Spartan experience.

Representation Without Exploitation

Inclusion at Every Spartan™ is grounded in respect.

The brand avoids performative representation or messaging that positions disability as inspiration or spectacle. Instead, it focuses on normalization — ensuring that people of all abilities are represented naturally within the same community narrative.

Adaptive apparel is not presented as exceptional. It is presented as expected.

This approach reinforces the idea that accessibility should be standard, not special.

Serving an Underserved Community

Individuals with disabilities represent a significant and often overlooked segment of collegiate fandom. Despite strong brand loyalty and emotional connection to universities, access to appropriate apparel has remained limited.

Every Spartan™ addresses this gap by:

  • Designing with lived experience in mind
  • Prioritizing functionality without sacrificing identity
  • Treating accessibility as a baseline requirement

This commitment ensures that fans who have historically been excluded from full participation are finally seen, considered, and welcomed.

Inclusive Design Is Better Design

Designing for accessibility improves apparel for everyone.

Features that enhance ease of use, comfort, and wearability often benefit a broader audience — including older adults, individuals recovering from injury, caregivers, and those seeking greater comfort.

By embracing inclusive design principles, Every Spartan™ elevates the overall quality of its apparel while expanding its reach.

One Community. One Collection.

Every Spartan™ does not segment its audience.

There is no "adaptive line" and "traditional line."
There is only Every Spartan™.

This intentional choice reinforces a core truth: the Spartan community is strongest when it stands together.

Looking Forward

Accessibility and inclusion will continue to guide Every Spartan™ as the brand grows.

Future considerations include:

  • Expanding adaptive options across more apparel categories
  • Collaborating with experts in inclusive design
  • Listening to community feedback and lived experiences
  • Evolving with advances in apparel technology

Inclusion is not a finished goal — it is an ongoing commitment.

A Founder’s Commitment

Every Spartan™ was founded by a lifelong Spartan, MSU alum, and business owner with a physical disability who understands — personally and professionally — the importance of inclusion.

This brand is not built from theory.
It’s built from lived experience.

It’s a commitment to ensuring that future generations of Spartans never have to ask whether apparel was designed with them in mind.

Because they already know the answer.

The Every Spartan™ Promise

Every Spartan™ exists to ensure that no one is left on the sidelines.

By uniting adaptive and traditional apparel into one shared collection, the brand affirms a simple promise:

Everyone belongs in green and white.

Every Ability. Every Moment. Every Spartan.
